On 7 December 2015 the DfE launched a consultation on how schools should respond to requests from parents to provide wraparound care, and to requests from providers to use school premises to provide such care. The closing date for feedback is 29 February 2016. We strongly urge all providers of out of school clubs to read and send in their considered feedback to the consultation.
The consultation documents consist of a draft of the advice that the DfE proposes to issue to schools, together with a consultation document which asks specific questions about the proposed advice. Many of the questions are simply asking whether the advice is clear, rather than asking for feedback on the nature of the advice itself. Our concern is that many of the assumptions behind the proposed advice are wrong, or are based on a lack of understanding about how most out of school clubs actually operate.
