On 13 February 2014 the Department for Education published its response to the public consultation on the regulation of childcare which closed in September last year. Its response contains a series of proposals that will significantly affect out of school clubs.
Although we acknowledge that a few of the planned changes outlined in the DfE’s response will benefit providers of out of school care — particularly the removal of the requirement to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage — overall we think that the proposal will have a detrimental effect on our sector and on the experience of children in out of school care.
