Purpose of Job- Main responsibilities

  • To be responsible for planning and preparing weekly creative and stimulating activities.
  • Delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
  • Preparing the room, including moving furniture and play equipment.
  • Providing healthy snacks and ensuring hygiene, health and safety standards.
  • Collecting children from classrooms.
  • Administering first aid when necessary.
  • Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure.
  • Clearing up the kitchen area after meal times.
  • Supervising children outside and maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Assisting children with homework and reading.
  • Communicate well with parents, relaying information where necessary.
  • Work within the clubs policies and procedures.

 Essential skills

  • Positive attitude towards children and enjoy working with them.
  • Some related experiences, either paid or as a volunteer.
  • Willingness to train for a play worker qualification while you work if necessary.
  • Before you start paid or voluntary work, you’ll need a background check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
  • Ability to work well as a team and use own initiative.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Creativity and ability to plan age related activities.
  • Excellent listening skills and a responsible, caring attitude.
  • Good physical and emotional health.

 Desirable skills

  • Appropriate child protection training
  • Current first aid training
  • Food hygiene certificate
  • Prevent training
