Gingerbreads Out of School Care is an after school and holiday club in Downham Market, based in the Children’s Centre on Snape Lane, providing care for children aged from 4 – 11 yrs old. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to provide safe, high quality play opportunities for the children that attend and to actively support the setting manager in the development and daily management of our thriving and successful after school and holiday club.

You will be joining a small but dedicated team of staff, providing creative play opportunities and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children. We require an experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated person who can use their initiative and have confidence in supervising staff and children accordingly.

You shall be working between the hours of 2.30pm - 6.30pm, Monday to Friday during term time for our after school care, and 8-6pm daily for our holiday club (subject to opening times).

A level 3 qualification in Play work, childcare or a Teaching assistant qualification is essential, as is a minimum of 1 years’ recent experience in working with children of school age. You must also hold a full and clean driving licence.

Ideally you shall be trained in Child Protection, Paediatric first aid and Prevent duty, however training in these areas can be provided.

It is preferable for you to hold certificates in Special Educational Needs and Equal opportunities but not essential.

You must have effective communication skills at all levels and be able to inform, persuade, inspire and motivate children and staff and provide feedback for professionals and parents.

You must have the ability to organise own work effectively and that of others, identify priorities and meet outcomes.

You must be able to lead by example; demonstrating high levels of drive, enthusiasm and passion with proven ability to motivate others, helping to direct and support staff as agreed by the manager.

You shall have a good understanding of the relevant national standards and be effectively compliant with procedures for Ofsted and other relevant bodies.

You must be responsible for the health and safety standards appropriate for the needs of children and ensuring staff compliance and awareness.

You will direct and supervise the club staff with the support of or in the absence of the setting manager.
