Emergency shutdown policy

The current Coronavirus/Covid-19 crisis has made many clubs review their existing Emergency Shutdown policy, or realise that they need to create one. A policy that was drawn up to deal with more predictable short-term one-off events such as snow days, needs to be revised so that it covers the longer shutdowns that may be enforced by government agencies in order to limit the spread of Covid-19.

We have created a template policy which you can tailor to the particular circumstances of your club. The template policy is very much in outline as the key issue for most clubs is how they will cover their financial losses arising from an extended shutdown, and these losses will be specific for each club. In particular, the policy needs to cover the difficult decision regarding whether to charge parents for sessions when your club is not open, and every club will have a different perspective on this.
