Key Objectives

  • To lead and be responsible for the day to day organisation of the Out of School provision at Seagry Road, Wanstead, providing high standards of care and play opportunities for children between the ages of 4 – 11-years.
  • To ensure that all Statutory requirements and Company Policies are met.
  • To foster positive relationships with our schools and parents.
  • To have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to follow Little Bear’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.
  • Maintain all records relating to the management of the group ensuring confidentiality and data protection of the children, their families and members of staff. 


  • Ensure all Club staff are trained, motivated, appraised and developed in a positive effective manner, taking account of Company Policy and all statutory requirements to ensure that they fulfil the provisions of their job description.
  • Ensure that all recruitment processes within the nursery comply with Company Policy, the Employment Legislative framework and OFSTED requirements.
  • Carry out all appropriate checks for new employees.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records for all Club employees.
  • Create rotas to ensure all children are collected from various schools in a safe and effective manner.
  • Maintain a list of appropriate supply staff
  • Organise regular staff meetings and appropriate training sessions to keep staff up-to-date on Company Policy and Procedures and OFSTED requirements.
  • In consultation with the Operations Director, deal with grievances or disciplinary matters in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures.
  • Liaise with the Operations Director for all temporary staff requirements.
  • Manage staff annual leave requests to ensure the Club is adequately staffed at all times.
  • Ensure staff rosters are accurate, including the reporting of absence through sickness and holidays.
  • Undertake regular review meetings with staff.


  • To effectively manage the occupancy levels of the Clubs
  • Managing the waiting list and offering child places
  • Promoting and marketing the Club effectively to maintain occupancy
  • Monitor the budget, revenue and expenditure in the Club and ensure that agreed targets are not exceeded.
  • Be fully conversant with the childcare business with regards to maximising revenue and margins
  • Liaise with the Club’s finance team to administer bookings and collection of fees, ensuring that any transactions are handled and documented as directed by the finance team.
  • Monitor all staff costs closely to ensure they do not exceed budgetary provisions.
  • Maintain accurate accounts, including occupancy.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure the highest standards of safety and security within the Club.
  • Ensure security systems are always fully operational and used properly by staff.
  • Maintain an accident logbook, in accordance with Company Policy, and legislation – ensure all relevant reports are submitted e.g. RIDDOR.
  • Operate highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the Club.
  • Maintain and test appropriate emergency procedures.
  • Supervise the administration of all medication within the Club, as appropriate.
  • Undertake and maintain records of regular Risk Assessments.
  • Ensure the general cleanliness of the children at all times.
  • Be familiar with all emergency and security procedures e.g. Fire procedures, routines for dropping off and collecting children.


  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures including attendance at meetings, preparation of reports and any other duties as required.
  • Ensure the Company’s Equal Opportunities Policy is adhered to at all times.
