We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person who wants to develop their leadership skills in the childcare profession. The ideal candidate will support the manager in leading a team of playworkers to deliver high quality play for children aged 7-11 years of age and in the development and daily management of our successful after school club.

We would consider applicants on a full or part time basis to work in the club and some administration hours.

Person Specification

You will need:

  • A recognised qualification at level 3 or above or willing to work towards a qualification.
  • A minimum 2 years experience of working with children aged 7 to 11 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and supervise the staff and volunteers with the support of or in the absence of the club manager.
  • Have an understanding of the requirements of Ofsted and Playwork Principles to ensure the club’s policies and procedures are enforced.
  • An understanding of safeguarding children, signs to look for and the procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, used to effectively inform, persuade, inspire and motivate children and staff and provide feedback for professionals and parents.
  • Good organisation and time management skills to plan, source and implement snacks, equipment and daily craft activities.
  • An ability to use IT based resources such as email applications, mobile technology word processing and spread sheets to support play and club administration.
