Job summary: Assist with day to day activities of the club

Provide quality playcare within the framework of the club’s

policies and procedures, keep clear and precise information using online system

Line manager: Paula Pitt

Responsible for: Register taking, dealing with unexpected issues/passing information onto Line Manager, planning activities

Working relationships: Children attending the club and their parents/carers

Management and Staff, including Students and Volunteers,

Schools and Registering Authorities

Main duties include:

Planning, preparing, delivering and supervising quality play opportunities within a safe and secure environment.

Register children into software upon arrival to the club, and sign them out upon collection.

Ensure registered children are accounted for each day, and follow up with any missing children.

Passing necessary information on to Line Manager.

Ensuring First Aid information is inputted to software correctly and in a timely manner.

Providing comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school and delivering them safely to parents or carers.

Setting up and clearing up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.

Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.

Administering first aid when necessary.

Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.

Helping with club administration, where necessary.

Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, and schools.

Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.

Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure.

Working within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures.

Administer/supervise and record any medications taken during the club.

Essential qualities 

Desirable qualities 

  • Experience of working with large groups of 4 to 11 year olds. 

  • Understanding the responsibility of safeguarding all children. 

  • Understanding how to deliver quality play care. 

  • Ability to register children and document information online. 

  • Provide and facilitate creative play within a safe environment. 

  • Great communication with other playworkers and parents 

  • Competent and confident using online software to document information 

  • Sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children* 

  • Willingness to help children with personal hygiene where necessary 

  • Experience of working within a play-based setting 

  • Experience of administration 

  • Ability to direct other playworkers and support team work 

  • Competent in using IT to support play 

  • Ability to work on own initiative 

  • Relevant qualification or willingness to work towards this 

  • Appropriate child protection training 

  • Food Hygiene Certificate 

  • Ofsted approved 12 hourpaediatric first aid certificate, or willingness to attend course
