Local Authorities

Membership for Local Authorities

As the leading authority in out of school and wraparound childcare, the Out of School Alliance (OOSA) stands at the forefront of supporting both individual providers and local authorities in delivering exceptional out of school provision across the UK.

With our unparalleled expertise and comprehensive resources, OOSA is uniquely positioned to help you achieve success with the National Wraparound Childcare Programme (NWCP) over the next two years. We bring deep sector expertise and a proven track record of supporting providers and local authorities alike to ensure seamless delivery of the National Wraparound Childcare Programme. Our collaboration with local authorities is grounded in a shared commitment to quality, accessibility, inclusion and innovation in school aged childcare.

Local authorities can join the Out of School Alliance Membership and utilise information on the website to keep up to date in order to support the settings in their area, or are able to benefit from discounted rates to purchase memberships for their settings. OOSA’s membership goes beyond the basics, offering in-depth articles on critical topics such as Ofsted registration, staff development, tax-free childcare, and GDPR compliance. Our tailored partnership deals and extensive library of engaging activities provide practical solutions to everyday challenges, helping clubs thrive.

We also work with a number of local authorities to provide CPD training via OOSA Academy or live, including a wide range of topics around business, set up and scale up, quality improvement, playwork, behaviour support, inspection readiness an more! We can also scope out a bespoke offer (and are doing so with a growing number of local authorities currently).

We are also flagging up in our conversations with LA’s, the new ‘Make Play Work: Quality Improvement’ tool we that will be launching in October 2024. We have heard local authorities concerns about how they are tasked with supporting quality in wraparound settings, but the scale and scope of this commitment is pressurising resources; here's another way we can help.

We are working with a number of local authorties on bespoke training and consultancy packages. Many local authorities have approached us to deliver specialist inclusion support, training packages and business bootcamps and we are working with one local authority to deliver a comprehensive support package for their funded wraparound providers. We believe that the success of the National Wraparound Childcare Programme depends on strong partnerships between local authorities and expert providers.
